Where to Play Putt Putt in Cape Town

Last Updated on August 2, 2024 by Hannah Stephenson

Who doesn’t love a good game of putt putt (aka mini golf)?

There are quite a few places to play putt putt in Cape Town, with both indoor and outdoor courses available. I always think that it’s fun to play outside in the sun, but some of the indoor ones have even crazier courses!

So if you’re looking for a fun date, a family day out, or just a chance to practise your swing, allow me to introduce you to the best putt putt courses in Cape Town.

1. Putt Putt Three Anchor Bay

Probably the best known place to play putt putt in Cape Town is the Three Anchor Bay course, which is along the Sea Point promenade.

It’s a simple course and it costs R44 per person for one game, R88 for three, or R360 for 10. You don’t have to play all of your games on the same day, so if you’re a putt putt enthusiast it’s worth buying the 10 game ticket.

The course overlooks the ocean and you’ve got Lion’s Head in the background, so the views are pretty nice.

This place is easy to find and there’s free parking right next door. There are lots of car guards around, though, so remember to bring some change.

Open times: 9 am – 9 pm

2. Cave Golf, V&A Waterfront

You can find everything from gin tastings to boat trips at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, so of course there’s a putt putt course, too!

It’s a fun, indoor course so you can play in all weathers. You can’t book in advance so you just turn up – perfect for a spontaneous trip to the Waterfront.

One round costs R35 per player, or R30 for groups of 10 or more people. Each player also has to put down an R20 deposit for their clubs, which is refunded at the end of the game (assuming that you don’t damage them!)

You’ll find Cave Golf just a couple of minutes’ walk from the Aquarium, next to the Portswood parking garage.

Address: 1 Dock Road, V&A Waterfront

Open times: 8:30 am – 4:45 pm Monday – Friday; 9 am – 5 pm Saturday and Sunday

3. Glowing Rooms SA

Glowing Rooms are out in Milnerton, which is a 20 to 25 minute drive north of the city centre. However, they’re worth it if you’re looking for a kooky experience – and especially so if you want a fun day out with the kids!

Yup, this putt putt course lets you play 18 holes in the dark. There’s a blacklight and the course is painted neon, so it looks pretty trippy.

And if that weren’t enough, you wear 3D glasses so you get to admire awesome illusions on the way round!

Of course, the fact that this course needs a blacklight does mean that you’ll need to check the load shedding schedule before you go.

You can do this using the EskomSePush app. Check when the power will be off by searching for Milnerton (2) City of Cape Town.

You can’t book this course and it’s only open on weekends. Oh, and last admission is an hour before close.

Glowing Rooms SA is a bit more expensive than the other Cape Town putt putt courses at R120 per person, but it offers such a unique experience that I definitely think it’s worth it.

Address: 1 Turf Club Dr, Milnerton

Open times: 10 am – 8 pm Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm Sunday

4. Muizenberg Putt Putt

Remember the Putt Putt Three Anchor Bay I featured earlier on this list? Well, there’s a very similar course in Muizenberg, too! So if you’re further south in Cape Town and spending time near this surfer seaside town, you can also head there for a game of putt putt.

Muizenberg Putt Putt has slightly shorter opening hours than the Three Anchor Bay course, but the prices are the same (R44 for one game or R88 for three).

Address: 6 Beach Road, Muizenberg

Open times: 9 am – 7 pm
