Who doesn’t love a good midweek restaurant deal? When it’s Wednesday night and you just can’t be bothered to cook, or want to break out of your meal prep monotony, you can can take advantage of some of the Wednesday specials at Cape Town restaurants. Dining out in Cape Town really doesn’t have to mean spending a ton of money!
I’ve rounded up the top 5 Wednesday specials at some of Cape Town’s best restaurants so that you can eat, drink, and be merry without blowing your budget.
Rather than a huge round-up post, I’ve kept it to a few top picks, and I will update this article regularly to make sure that all of the offers are still valid. I don’t know about you, but I hate rocking up to a restaurant only to find out that the deal I heard about ended months ago!
So without further ado, here are the top 5 Wednesday specials in Cape Town in December 2023 (or should that be Dezembaaaa?)

1) Tiger’s Milk Pizza & Beer
Tiger’s Milk is a local chain of bar-slash-restaurants that specialises in “dude food” (their words, not mine). You can find pizzas, burgers, and plenty of beers here, and another thing I also like about Wednesday nights at Tiger’s Milk is that they host pub quizzes.
There are branches of Tiger’s Milk all over Cape Town, including on Kloof Street, Long Street, the Waterfront, Muizenberg, and the Camps Bay Strip. Basically, you can pretty much guarantee that you’ve got one nearby! My local one is on Somerset Road in Green Point.

For the Wednesday night special at Tiger’s Milk, you can get one pizza and two 500ml house beers for R180. Or, you can make it even cheaper by downsizing to 340ml beers for R140.
I also really enjoy their quiz nights, which are themed. Back in February, my friends and I took part in the romcom quiz and we won!
You can usually rock up but some locations, like Camps Bay, get super busy in the summer. You can book online to be sure, and it only takes a few seconds.
2) Wine Down Wednesday at Judd’s Local
I really like Judd’s Local, which is located on Kloof Street in Gardens. They do great burgers, but their Wednesday night special is all about wine.
On Wednesday nights at Judd’s, you can get a 4-course meal and local wine pairings for R550 per person. They also have live jazz to enjoy while you savour your meal, so it’s a nice (and fairly affordable) way to spend a night out.
Judd’s work with a different local winery each time, and they’re all boutique wineries. This is a great way to discover amazing Western Cape wines and enjoy Judds’ delicious food at the same time.
The only catch is that this Wednesday special doesn’t happen every single Wednesday. Right now, it takes place every second Wednesday, although they did advise me that they are trying to make it a weekly event. I recommend checking their Instagram for more information.
3) Harringtons
In keeping with the Wine Wednesday theme that seems to be emerging, Harringtons in District Six also has a fantastic midweek deal. Harringtons is not in a particularly glamorous part of the city, but once you get inside, this place oozes class. That being said, it does turn up sometimes. I’ve even seen Casey Lowry play here!
On Wine Wednesday at Harringtons, you get a 3 course meal alongside a tasting of 5 Boschendal wines. For those of you who are just visiting Cape Town, Boschendal is really well known among the locals and it’s actually one of the oldest wineries in South Africa. The wine estate is all the way out in Franschhoek, so it’s pretty cool to get to do a tasting right here in the city.
After the tasting, you also get a full glass of your favourite wine, which I think is a really nice touch!
You get all of this for R300, so it should come as no surprise that this is a pretty popular deal. I think it’s one of the best Wednesday specials in Cape Town, because you get so much for your money.
If you want to come and enjoy Wine Wednesday, I highly recommend booking in advance!
4) Sotano
Sotanto is a stylish, laid back Mediterranean restaurant in Mouille Point, right opposite the promenade. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for enjoying a crisp glass of wine on a warm day!
Sotano’s have a long running Wednesday special, which is two of their delicious lamb burgers for R135.
They’ve also got two great midweek specials which run from 4 – 6pm, from Monday to Friday. You can get 6 oysters and a glass of wine for R160, or 5 salmon roses and a glass of rosé for R140. Not bad!
Address: 121 Beach Road, Mouille Point
5) Van Hunks
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Van Hunks. It’s my favourite bar in Cape Town!

But Van Hunks is not only a great place for a night out, they also serve really good food! It’s nothing fancy but the burgers, pizzas, and samosas are just delicious. It’s also very reasonably priced.
Van Hunks also have lots of specials throughout the week. For their Wednesday special, you can get half a peri peri chicken for R110.
You can also couple that with their other happy hour specials if you’re looking to get a buzz on. From 3 pm – 7 pm, you get a 500ml house lager for R30, or 2 shots of jager or El Jimador tequila for R40. I think late afternoon is a little early for shots on a weekday but then, who am I to judge! One thing I do love about Capetonians is that they’ll often order a tequila to go along with an otherwise completely civilised meal.
Address: 1 Upper Union Street, Gardens
