Where to go Go-Karting in Cape Town

Last Updated on October 17, 2024 by Hannah Stephenson

There are a couple of places in Cape Town where you can rent go-karts and race around a track.!

So if you’re planning a kids birthday, a fun family day out, or just want to feel like you’re inside Mario Kart, make sure to check out this list.

Three of the venues I’ve listed are actually IN Cape Town. The other one is in Stellenbosch, which is about a 45-minute drive from the city.

So if you’re ready to hit the track, let’s dive in!

Century Karting in Century City

Century City is a big urban development in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, and Century Karting is probably the most popular place to rent go-karts in Cape Town.

If you’re a go-karting enthusiast, you can “arrive and drive” and do a 6-, 11-, or 15-minute practice session. These range from R195 – R400 per person.

They’ve also got a simulator which costs R50 per 10 minutes to practise on.

If you go with a group of 12 or more people, you can make a block booking and have your very own tournament. It costs R350 per person and there are two qualifying races per person, which involve 20 laps of the circuit. Then, the fastest six racers enter an exciting final to determine who is the fastest of them all!

Century City is 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) from the city centre. It takes about 15 minutes to drive there in light traffic and there’s plenty of parking available.

Kartz 4 Kidz

Kartz 4 Kidz have their main office in Melkbosstrand, but what’s great about this local business is that they’ll bring their inflatable go-kart track (and the go-karts themselves) to you!

You can set up the course indoors or outdoors. The karts are kid friendly and you can pre-set the speed for peace of mind!

The speed range is between 1.5 kilometres to 10 kilometres an hour, so it’s very safe. You don’t need to worry about kids whipping around the course way too fast and crashing!

The course comes with four carts, which are designed for kids aged 3 – 11 years old. Kartz 4 Kidz staff will be on hand all the time to monitor kids and keep them safe, and these parties usually last around 2 hours.

The price of renting the Kartz 4 Kids course and cub carts depends on your location, but you can get in touch with them for a personalised quote.

ANGRi Racing Academy

ANGRi Racing Academy is less about birthday parties and more about getting kids into the sport.

However, for first-timers, they offer introductory sessions every Tuesday. These sessions aren’t the cheapest but it’s perfect for those who are looking to get serious about the sport.

Slots are available every Tuesday and youngsters get support from professional trainers. They also get a racing balaclava to keep!

The sessions last 1.5 hours in total and involve two ten-minute sessions. Prices are as follows:

  • R750 for kids aged 5-8
  • R950 for kids aged 8-12
  • R1200 for over 13s

Xtreme Outdoor Karting, Stellenbosch

If you’re willing to venture a little out of town and make the 45-minute drive to Stellenbosch, Xtreme Outdoor Karting has two awesome tracks: one for adults, and one for kids!

You can also spend the day here and make it a real party because there’s a braai area too, which is available for rent from R300.

This go kart track is perfect if you’re going go-karting for a birthday party or work event. You can bring your own food and booze (just don’t hit the track after drinking, obviously!)

The typical group package has 4 karts on the track at once, and you can have 12 racers per hour. You’re looking at R8,050 for two hours.

You’ll need to make a booking, which you can do via WhatsApp. The link is on their website!
